Kelp & Moss: PKOLS in April

Living in Victoria we’re fortunate to have beaches, forests and small summits for easily accessible adventures. One of our favourite places to explore is PKOLS (Mt. Douglas Park).

Before heading up for our hike we stopped at the Saanich Bike Festival where the kids got their faces painted. Then we biked over to Mt. Douglas Park.

They hiked through the forest looking a bit like wild animals!

My brother came along as well with his dog Satori. We don’t have a dog so always enjoy when we can spend time with other people’s animals! Dogs are so much fun on hikes.

This tree in the forest part of the hike is a favourite. It’s shape is unique and the kids love running up the steep trail to the tree and sliding back down.

Their favourite part of the hike is always climbing the rocks. The trail winds through the rocky summit but the kids like to go straight up the face of it.

In spring the fawn lillies are in bloom on the mountain and are so delicate and beautiful.

We took the road back down and Gracie loved looking at the little ferns and fawn lillies growing along the way.
